The sun is finally out in Berlin, and we’ve got hot tips on the upcoming events at the dodgy palace – not to be missed…
1. GALLERY WEEKEND AT SUPERMARQUE | Grit, gloss and a little art-world anarchy
From May 1-4th, Supermarque will be home to Lukas Glinkowski’s solo exhibit in partnership with Evelyn Drewes Gallery.
Lukas Glinkowski’s works speak the rough language of a tough culture, transferring slang, scribbles and stickers from the streets to the walls of Supermarque exclusively for Berlin Gallery Weekend.
Taking inspiration for his works from urban kebab shop walls and underground venues, his visual motifs then undergo a controlled transformation – a creative process of modification and transmutation through painting onto a solid support. His works will be right at home at Supermarque’s dodgy palace.
We love that Lukas’ art screams Bon Fucking Jour in its pursuit of sub-cultural codes, producing works that do not seek homogeneity or make a legible political statement. They are interlocutors of a social reality with a certain je ne sais quoi, and naturally they found their place in our space.
As the artist says of himself, ‘the intriguing thing for me is always the friction. Sassy and a bit provocative – that just about describes Lukas.’ Need we say more?
Gallery weekend at Supermarque opens from 12:00-18:00, May 1-4th at Supermarque Concept Store, Besselstr. 14, Berlin.
2. Gallery Weekend Preview | LE BLACK SOFA | Lukas Glinkowski
Lukas Glinkowski will also join Marc and Christine as our next guest on Le Black Sofa, our in-store live podcast series, on Tuesday 29th April, 7pm. Expect artist’s insights, good food and – as always – a glass of champagne.
